All government-funded aged care homes in Australia now have a Star Rating.
Star Ratings make it easier for you to compare the quality of aged care homes and make choices about your care.
Star Ratings are a key aged care reform being delivered in response to the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety. The Royal Commission highlighted the need for information about service quality to be available for you.
Star Ratings are helping to uplift the sector by encouraging continuous improvements in aged care.
How do Star Ratings work?
Star Ratings have been developed with older people, data experts and the sector to make sure the ratings provide transparent, fair and accurate information about an aged care home’s performance.
Aged care homes receive a rating of 1 to 5 stars, based on an overall Star Rating and four sub-category ratings:
- Residents’ Experience
- Compliance
- Staffing
- Quality Measures.
You can find Star Ratings for aged care homes in the Find a provider tool.
