The New South Wales Nursing and Midwifery Association, along with other aged care experts, has developed a range of resources to empower older Australians to ask questions when searching for an aged care home.
Written by nurses, doctors and experts with aged care experience, the resources—called 10 Questions to Ask—focus on specific aspects of aged care such as staffing, cultural needs, and health services.
A number of advocacy organisations have endorsed the brochures, which also provide tailored information for people with a variety of backgrounds, lived experiences and needs.
This includes specific brochures for:
- Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities
- People who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and
- People living in rural and remote parts of Australia.
